The winners will represent their respective local government areas at the final. According to Mr Justice Iyasere, Media Aide to Senator Akpor Pius Ewherido, the competition could not hold at the Lagos centre on the said date due to logistic reasons and that it will now hold in Lagos on Saturday November 17, 2012. He explained that many people who participated at the zonal level were caught by the 30 years age limit even though they performed remarkably well.

‘’Many people who participated in the zonal competition were above the 30 years age limit for participants. Many of these ones did very well but the committee couldn’t just bend the rules. However, the Distinguished Senator has magnanimously approved and so directed that those who did well but are above the 30 years age bracket be considered for consolation prizes to encourage them. In future competitions, we shall ensure the competition be in different categories so as to accommodate and encourage the various age groups. We also observed that many participants who did well in the oral test performed poorly in the written test. But on the whole, we commend the enthusiasm of the participants just as we want to assure all that it can only get better with time’’, he said.

Iyasere disclosed that the number of participants from the LGA determined the uneven number of those shortlisted for the finals. ‘’Well over 150 participants attended the zonal competition from Udu LGA, 114 from Ughelli North and 96 from Ughelli South LGAs. 52 attended from Ethiope East and 26 from Ethiope West, Sapele had 18 participants, Okpe 14 and Uvwie 8 participants. The competition was attended by 7 participants at the Port Harcourt centre’’, Iyasere disclosed, adding that over 100 entries have been received for the Lagos centre while the number of finalists from the Lagos zone would be determined by the number of participants on November 17.

The 16 winners and those from the Lagos zone will slug it out on Saturday December 1 to determine the overall winner who will smile home with the star prize of a brand new car.
